Chiang Mai Family Trekking – highlight of your holiday
Thailand is a fantastic destination for your family. You can miss Chiang Mai Family trekking on your holiday with your children. Thailand is probably the child-friendliest country in Southeast Asia. There is wide range of food available, hygienic standards are very high and many hotels have family rooms. Thailand is also still great value for money. It is still very exotic and very different from Western countries, culturally as well weatherwise. Finally, Thai people love children. During the European summer holidays families have traveled to Thailand for a holiday in increasing numbers. Many of our guests come from Europe. We have been organising hundreds of family treks over the past 6 years.
Our guides have a lot of experience and are able to give you and your children an unforgettable experience. The Chiang Dao East area is very suitable for families with children of all ages. There are villages of Karen, Akha, Lisu, Lahu and Palong. Between these villages there a numerous roads and trails. This gives us great flexibility to customize the trip to the needs and wishes of your family. The villages where we stay overnight are used to see tourists but are still very hospitable and friendly. Your guide will stimulate interaction between your children and children of the village where you spend the night. We will make your overnight as comfortable as possible. Spending the night in a tribal village is a memory for a lifetime. Your guide will prepare your meals. It is always fun to help him cooking and learn preparing some local dishes.
It is really amazing that they can prepare delicious meals on a simple wood fire. The village where we spend the night can be reached by car and we have emergency scenarios in case something happens. The Huay Nam Dang area is more challenging and therefore suitable for families with older children. The rafting on the Mae Taeng river is the best bamboo rafting in the Chiang Mai area.
Our programs include transportation by songtaew, a truck with benches. It is the traditional mode of transportation for trekking and it adds a bit “couleur locale” to the experience. If you have children below 6 years it is advisable to upgrade to a minivan. In that case please contact us directly by email.
Some of our tours feature a visit to an elephant friendly venue where you can help bathe elephants and will learn about the Asian Elephant. We don’t offer elephant rides and don’t include elephant shows.
Some tours feature a bamboo raft river trip. We always provide life vests. Health and safety are our biggest priorities. We regularly organise refresher first aid courses for our guides.
