Day 1 Chiang Mai – Doi Inthanon

Spectacular waterfalls

Your guide and driver will meet you at the hotel at 0800 for your Doi Inthanon family tour. This two-day tour features the two most beautiful but very different nature trails of Doi Inthanon National Park: the Kew Mae Pan and Pha Dok Siew Nature Trails. These trails take about two hours to hike, depending on your speed and the time we spend along the trail taking pictures and enjoying nature. We will drive to Doi Inthanon National Park. Our first stop is the Mae Klang waterfall. Next is the spectacular Vachirathan Waterfall. We continue to the summit of the highest mountain in Thailand.

The Angka and Pha Dok Siew Nature Trails

We will hike the short but beautiful Angkha Nature Trail near the summit. Next, We will visit the two chedis constructed in honor of his Majesties, King Bhumibol and Queen Sirikit. We enjoy a late lunch near the Park Headquarters. We will check into our accommodation for tonight, which is a lodge. You will have a private room with a toilet. After settling, we take off for the Pha Dok Siew Waterfall trail. In the afternoon, there are usually few other people on this trail. We walk down this beautiful waterfall until we hit the trail that will bring us to the Karen Village Ban Mae Klang Luang. Enjoy a delicious dinner of traditional Karen food.

Overnight will be at a bungalow in the village.

Day 2 Doi Inthanon – Chiang Mai

The Kew Mae Pan Nature Trail

This morning we will leave before daybreak to be on the trail early. It will allow us to enjoy the peace and serenity of Doi Inthanon National Park to the fullest and in as much privacy as possible. This is a private tour. Please inform your guide if you don’t want to leave before sunrise. A local Hmong guide will accompany us. The Hmong have been calling the Doi Inthanon their home for a long time, and they “own” the trail. The trail is not difficult to find. Sometimes we trek through cloud forests that sometimes open to stunning national park views. Doi Inthanon is often called the Roof of Thailand. You will find out why during this hike, depending on the weather. After our walk, we go for breakfast.

The Royal Project Market and the elephants of Thailand

We will stop at the Hmong market, where products of the Royal Project are for sale. Lunch will be at local restaurant depending on timing on that day. It is a scenic road that will take us to the Mae Wang valley, where we will visit the elephant camp of Khun Yuthasak. He comes from Surin in the Northeast and takes care of twelve elephants. Feel free to interact with the elephants, take pictures, feed them some snacks or swim in the waterfall that runs through the camp. Elephants might join you.

Bamboo rafting on the Wang River

After that, it is time for an enjoyable trip by bamboo raft on the Mae Wang River. We will provide life jackets. Please wear them and have a look at our bamboo rafting policy. After this, we will drive back to Chiang Mai after two unforgettable days in one of Thailand’s most beautiful national parks. We will drop you off at your hotel. We hope you enjoyed our Doi Inthanon Family Tour.
